Cockroaches are one of the most common pests that are found within Las Vegas homes. The climate provides ideal living conditions, and they quickly make themselves at home wherever they can. Unfortunately, this is sometimes within your residence. These unwanted visitors can present a unique set of problems, as well as posing difficulties in removal.
Common Cockroaches
In order to be successful in the removal of cockroaches, its important to know what kind you are working with. American cockroaches are fairly large in comparison to other species, usually around 1”-2” long. They are dark in color and typically do not sting or bite, but they still make for an unpleasant surprise within your residence. German roaches are the most common found within the United States. They are smaller than American roaches, at about ½”-⅝”, but can pose a big problem due to their breeding habits, as one mated pair can produce a million roaches in their lifetime. This species is known to be elusive, so they may be difficult to detect until it is a full blown infestation. Turkestan roaches are also common in Las Vegas. They prefer dark, moist places, and the males are even capable of flying.
Cockroach Problems
Whatever species they are, cockroaches can present many problems. They are more than just a nuisance to deal with, they can contribute to health issues for you and your family. Cockroaches are known to carry diseases, and can easily spread them throughout your home. Some diseases that cockroaches carry can be resistant to antibiotics, making it difficult to get better once you are infected.
Cockroaches are also known to have lots of allergens, and contribute to asthma, allergies, and a number of different breathing difficulties. These can cause coughs, wheezing, difficulty breathing, and other respiratory symptoms that can last past the clearing of an infestation.
Cockroach Removal
With the prevalence of cockroaches, one might think that ways to remove them would be prevalent as well. However, cockroaches tend to be extremely stubborn, and are therefore difficult to remove. With their rapid reproduction rate, their numbers grow quickly. In addition, they are resistant to many forms of pesticides and removal methods, and they quickly develop resistance to newly introduced methods as well.
